The platform supports staking for major proof-of-stake cryptocurrencies with both on-chain and custodial staking options.

Staking Options

Institutions can choose from flexible staking options including instant-access staking with liquidity (allowing unstaking at any time) and bonded staking with higher yields (requiring lock-up periods ranging from 3 to 30 days depending on the asset). The platform supports staking for Ethereum (ETH), Cardano (ADA), Solana (SOL), Polkadot (DOT), Cosmos (ATOM), Tezos (XTZ), The Graph (GRT), and many other proof-of-stake networks.

Yield Generation

Staking rewards range from 1% to over 20% APR depending on the asset and staking method selected. For example, Cosmos offers up to 20.32% for bonded staking, Ethereum offers up to 2.96% for bonded staking, and Solana offers up to 5.75% for bonded staking. Institutions can also stake stablecoins like USDC (4-5% APR) and USDG (up to 5.25% APR) to earn yield on dollar-denominated holdings.

Integration with Custody

Institutional clients using Kraken Custody can stake assets directly from their custody vaults, maintaining full control and compliance while generating yield. This integration enables institutions to put capital to work without moving assets out of qualified custody, preserving regulatory compliance and security standards.
